Online Appendix to A Normal Form for XML Documents

چکیده
A DTD D can be inconsistent in the sense that there is no XML tree T such that T |= D. For example, a recursive DTD containing a rule P (a) = a is not consistent; there is no a finite XML tree satisfying this rule. In this section we only consider consistent DTDs, since the implication problem for inconsistent DTDs is trivial and it can be checked in linear time whether a DTD is consistent [Fan and Libkin 2001].

Due to the increasing number of documents, XML, effectively organize these documents in order to retrieve useful information from them is essential. A possible solution is performed on the clustering of XML documents in order to discover knowledge. Clustering XML documents is a key issue of how to measure the similarity between XML documents. Conventional clustering of text documents using a do...
متن کاملPrototyping a Vibrato-Aware Query-By-Humming (QBH) Music Information Retrieval System for Mobile Communication Devices: Case of Chromatic Harmonica
Background and Aim: The current research aims at prototyping query-by-humming music information retrieval systems for smart phones. Methods: This multi-method research follows simulation technique from mixed models of the operations research methodology, and the documentary research method, simultaneously. Two chromatic harmonica albums comprised the research population. To achieve the purpose ...
متن کاملA Signature-Based Approach for Efficient Relationship Search on XML Data Collections
We study the problem of finding relevant relationships among user defined nodes of XML documents. We define a language that determines the nodes as results of XPath expressions. The expressions are structured in a conjunctive normal form and the relationships among nodes qualifying in different conjuncts are determined as tree twigs of the searched XML documents. The query execution is supporte...
متن کاملMultivalued Dependencies and a 4NF for XML
While providing syntactic exibility, XML provides little semantic content and so the study of integrity constraints in XML plays an important role in helping to improve the semantic expressiveness of XML. Functional dependencies (FDs) and multivalued dependencies (MVDs) play a fundamental role in relational databases where they provide semantics for the data and at the same time are the foundat...
متن کاملProducing XML Documents with Guaranteed “Good” Properties
Many XML documents are being produced, but there are no agreed-upon standards formally defining what it means for complying XML documents to have “good” properties. Without guidance, users are likely to make poor choices and needlessly produce problematic specifications for XML documents. We therefore proposed a normal form for XML documents called XNF [2], which simultaneously guarantees that ...
